Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business

What is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)?

A SDVOSB is a small business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and managed by one or more U.S. military veterans with a service-connected disability. This designation allows eligible businesses to compete for federal set-aside and sole-source contracts.

Is SDVOSB certification required to bid on SDVOSB contracts?

Businesses must be SBA-certified as SDVOSB to be eligible for SDVOSB set-aside contracts.

What agencies award SDVOSB contracts?

  • Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Department of Defense (DoD)
  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • General Services Administration (GSA)

Can SDVOSB be combined with other certifications?

SDVOSB can be leveraged alongside GSA Schedules, WOSB, HUBZone, or 8(a) to further reduce competition and expand opportunities.
